Keeping you up to date with the latest news from FSMBC
Dear Member
Welcome to your October newsletter from Fareham Sailing and Motor Boat Club.
In the next few pages you will find details of recent happenings along with details of upcoming events which I hope you will find of interest.
The newsletter will be available on the Club website and for those that don’t have a computer at home, copies will be available in the Club House so please spread the word.
Commodores report
IT’S NEW!! One of my personal pledges for the Club was to improve communications and following constructive feedback received on my updates for August and September, have decided to move to a newsletter format.
This is our monthly opportunity to share Club matters and I warmly welcome any input from you to highlight the many different areas of FSMBC that all Club Members can join in with.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Charity event for OYTS at the end of August. We managed to raise £657.00 and with previously raised funds, total to date is £751.10. Congratulations to Chris & Steve Capel who had the winning lucky entry ticket, a day pass to sail on John Laing, a wonderful prize donated by OYTS. Other winners of free lift out, 3 free overnight stays and a pair of Boat Show tickets were all Club members which is great – well done all of you. A formal presentation will be made to OYTS on November 21st at 20.30 and Gaynor is doing food so please come along as it will be a good evening in the Club.
Our AGM is 16th November and a few positions on the Club Committee will be vacant so if you want to make a difference in how the Club is run, please let existing Committee members know as soon as possible for your names to be forwarded for possible election.

Club boats enjoyed warm sunshine and great sailing in and around the Solent as well as voyages to the West Country and across Channel for those wines and cheeses! Must be some tales in there somewhere worthy of sharing at a Club talk in the winter months………………….
Lots of visitors including the Silhouette rally and Warsash Sailing Club in September is proof that the word is spreading FSMBC is open and welcomes fellow sailors – terrific!
Pirates Day
After many years of splendid co-ordination, Bill Baird and Carol Murkin have stood down from Pirates Day and I’m sure everyone who has experienced the wonderful escapades will join in with saying thank you for all their hard work and efforts. The huge number of children who have enjoyed themselves firing water pistols at their friends on other boats followed by a brilliant BBQ in the dinghy park from Kids and the Rainbow Centre is testament to how successful Pirates has become over the years.. The day is firmly embedded in the FSMBC calendar and I’m delighted that Dave Branscomb has agreed to take on the co-ordination of boats and the Social Committee will arrange the ashore activities. Bill and Carol have led the way and we will surely follow their brilliant example.
Bosuns
Car park lines in Salterns have been newly painted by Pam and Vic Carr, very smart.
Tony has kept the momentum up with numerous projects around all Club areas and has a working board in the Workshop entrance highlighting ongoing work. If you are able to assist with one or some of these, please check the board and let Tony know what or when you can assist – all help gratefully received.

Well done to the guys for getting the Angling section underway and look forward to seeing the pictures of the hard won catches!
